Melanie Goldsobel was one in a group of six moms from the area who took part in the Jewish Women’s Renaissance Project Transform and Grow conference in Israel, which she called “the journey of a lifetime.”

“It was pretty amazing. It was supposed to be a growing-type conference, but it ended up being a solidarity one. I never had sisters, but now I feel I have 250 of them. Everyone is staying in touch,” said Goldsobel, the administrative assistant at Temple Emanu-El of Palm Beach who had last been to Israel decades ago.

The 10-day mission in Israel got off to an unexpected start. Goldsobel’s arrival on July 21 coincided with escalation in the Gaza conflict.
