100-mile walk will mark Israel’s independence
EAST BRUNSWICK — Men and women from the community and around the world will walk 100 miles each in support of the Jewish Women’s Renaissance Project and its partner organization, Torah Links of Middlesex County, to commemorate Israel Independence Day.
Walk2Israel is a pedometer challenge designed for Jewish charities and is global, linked in real time and appeals to all levels of fitness. Walk2Israel provides a venue for people to show their support for Israel publicly and proudly while raising funds to maintain and expand innovative programming including bringing women and men on separate, transformational trips to Israel, according to organizers.
“I’m thrilled and excited to be a part of this initiative. It will be very rewarding, gratifying and a lot of fun. It’s a great way to show our support for Israel,” said Taryn Webber, Walk2Israel chairperson for Torah Links of Middlesex County.
Walking 100 miles by June 2 requires 10,000 steps a day. Registered participants will track their steps using pedometer technology that is linked to their online fundraising page, enabling all to see their progress.
Donations can be made for individual walkers on the website at http://fundraise.jwrpwalks.com/dw/walking/ location/27.
If a walker’s name is not known, use Taryn Webber.
